Choosing the right work

A repair that addresses the entry point

A ceiling mark can be some distance from the fault. We consider how rain reaches the garage, including the house wall, roof perimeter and outlet, before defining the repair. Tell us whether water appears during every shower or only in heavy, wind-driven rain.

The repair method depends on the material and the condition around the defect. A patch needs a suitable base; it cannot restore a broadly deteriorated covering or a damaged deck simply by hiding the wet area.

When a replacement discussion is more useful

If faults are widespread, the deck has deteriorated or several earlier patches have failed, we will explain why a more complete approach deserves consideration. You should understand what a local repair would leave untouched and whether drainage changes are also needed.

The quote should distinguish temporary weather protection from the finished repair. Access, material compatibility, opening-up and disposal affect the scope. Any additional deck or timber work should be explained and agreed when its extent becomes clear.

Where the surrounding covering and supporting layers remain suitable, a local repair can be considered. Inspection establishes the practical boundary and method.

Will the garage need to be emptied?

Move belongings away from the leak if safe. We will discuss the working area, overhead protection and access before agreeing what needs to be cleared.

Does a garage leak mean the deck is rotten?

No. The condition must be checked. A dry-looking underside also cannot prove that every concealed part is sound.
