Tom Forrest · OnPoint RoofCare
A slate main roof, tiled porch and flat rear extension can each have a different history. If damp appears where they meet, selecting a trade by the room underneath may lead you to the wrong starting point.
We assess the roof arrangement and explain which connection needs attention before suggesting a repair or replacement. For enquiries from Carfin, Cleland or New Stevenston, the full postcode and a wider photograph help identify access and the relevant roof section. Tell us about earlier work, particularly if a new addition changed the way water reaches a gutter or wall. Your written scope should describe the affected structure and anything outside it. The three local service pages below separate leak diagnosis, complete re-roofing and flat-roof systems. Each explains the decisions relevant to that work. You can also ask about gutters or chimneys where those details are part of the problem; you do not need to diagnose the fault before contacting us.
What we do
We repair leaks and storm damage, replace worn roofs, install flat roofing, and fix gutters, chimneys and leadwork. Choose the job below for more detail.

On older Motherwell roofs, one visible slipped slate can sit beside tired fixings or an ageing lead join. Later tiled homes more often show cracked interlocking tiles, loose ridges or verge damage after exposed weather.

A sudden leak in a Motherwell terrace may travel through a shared roof slope before appearing indoors. On detached and semi-detached homes, wind damage is often first noticed at ridges, verges, gutters or extension joins.

A Motherwell roof replacement may involve retaining the character of an older slate property or selecting a suitable tile for a later home. Roof weight, ventilation and the condition of the deck or sarking must be checked first.

Garages, rear extensions, porches and dormers create many of Motherwell's flat-roof enquiries. Falls, raised edges where the roof meets a wall and outlets matter as much as choosing felt, EPDM or GRP.

Moss and debris from older slate and tiled roofs can quickly obstruct Motherwell gutters. Sagging runs and leaking unions can then wet sandstone, render, fascia boards and paths below.

Traditional Motherwell properties often have chimney stacks, skew details and roof-to-wall joins that depend on sound leadwork. Pointing, masonry and surrounding slates should be checked together.

Water marks, slipped slates, loose ridges, overflowing gutters and damp around chimneys all need checked. Do not climb onto the roof—send a safe photo or call us.

A water mark can mean rain has passed a slate or tile, underlay or sarking before tracking to the ceiling. It needs checked soon because continued wetting can damage plaster and hidden timber.

A slipped slate or broken tile leaves the underlay and sarking more exposed to wind-driven rain. Arrange a repair before the gap widens or neighbouring coverings loosen.

Cracked ridge mortar or a loose verge can let wind and rain work into exposed roof edges. It should be checked promptly, especially if pieces are moving or could fall.

Overflow usually points to moss, leaves, a blocked outlet or a gutter that no longer falls correctly. Do not ignore repeated overflow because it can soak fascia boards, masonry and the roof edge.

Damp beside a chimney often involves failed lead flashing, soakers, pointing or the surrounding slates. It needs checked before more water reaches the chimney breast or roof timbers.

Repair or replace?

These are the questions we are often asked before a roof inspection or quote.
Start with a repair enquiry and describe the property rather than guess a material. We can assess the connection between the main roof, additions and drainage, then explain which service and inspection are appropriate.
