Roofing knowledge

What a Photographic Roof Inspection Report Can Show

A useful photographic report separates what was seen from what could not be accessed. Wide views establish location, close-ups record problems, and plain captions explain whether an item needs repair, maintenance or closer access.

  • Wide roof views identify the inspected slope
  • Close-ups record the exact visible problem
  • Captions explain the location in plain roofing language
  • Findings separate urgent repairs from planned maintenance
  • Access limits and hidden roof layers are stated clearly

Roof care FAQs

Roof Inspection and Maintenance Questions

These answers explain common questions before you request a quote.

Can you see a roofing problem?● Send us a photo
When should I arrange a roof inspection?+

A check can be useful after severe weather, when a leak appears, before planned roofing work or when the roof has repeated repairs or visible movement.

What does a roof inspection cover?+

The check may include visible coverings, ridges, valleys, flashing, chimneys, roof edges, gutters, downpipes and accessible internal roof areas. Access limits should be explained.

Is a roof inspection the same as a structural survey?+

No. A roofing check focuses on visible roof condition and likely roofing work. A structural or full property survey has a different purpose and limits.

Should a roof be checked after a storm?+

If you see displaced material, new leaks or roof debris, arranging a safe check is sensible. Do not climb onto the roof yourself.

Will I receive photographs of roof problems?+

Photographs can help show visible concerns and explain recommended work. Confirm the required level of reporting when arranging the inspection.

Can an inspection find every hidden problem?+

No. Underlay, battens, sarking and timbers can be hidden by the roof covering. Some conditions only become clear when materials are lifted.

What is planned roof maintenance?+

It means checking and dealing with manageable issues such as loose coverings, minor flashing problems, blocked drainage or vulnerable roof details before they become larger problems.

Can I send photographs before booking a visit?+

Yes. Safe ground-level or indoor photographs can help explain the concern, although they do not replace a full check where closer access is required.
