Fascias and soffits FAQs

Fascias, Soffits & uPVC Roofline Questions and Answers

These answers explain common questions before you request a quote.

Can you see a roofing problem?● Send us a photo
What is the difference between fascia and soffit?+

The fascia is the vertical board at the roof edge that commonly supports gutters. The soffit closes the underside of the eaves.

Can uPVC boards be fitted over timber?+

Capping may be suitable only when the timber is sound and the detail remains ventilated and secure. Rotten material should not simply be hidden.

Why are my soffits stained?+

Overflowing gutters, roof-edge leaks, condensation or failed joints can all wet the soffit area.

Do soffits need ventilation?+

Many roof constructions rely on eaves ventilation. Any replacement should preserve or improve the required airflow for that roof build-up.
